Three Strategies to Generate Leads and Build Customer Relationships Online
The great thing about building a web site with WordPress, as we suggest, is you have so many ways you can use it to start and build a relationship with your prospects.
You hope that once someone finds your site they will stay for awhile to get to know you. Many visitors will not buy something from you on the first visit. How will you begin a relationship with them? Once they click off, they’re gone… unless you have given them a way to stay in touch. Here are a few suggestions for building profitable relationships using your web site.
Comment Forms:
Your visitors are your best source of advice about how to market to them. Give them a reason to give you feedback by asking them regularly what is important to them. Here is where your blogging platform comes in handy. Every blog site is set up with a comments feature. Ask questions in your articles that prompt your readers to respond. Be sure to ask them what is most important to them. What their biggest problems are in your area of expertise.
To see how this works, go to the bottom of this article and comment on this article! We would like to know your most pressing question about generating new leads in your business on the web.
Twitter:
Twitter.com is a new way to communicate with your market. Frankly, it’s not easy to explain this phenomenon in a few words, but it’s the future of online communication and worth your effort to understand it. It’s one of the many ‘micro-blogging’ sites that have come on the scene recently. Twitter is a web site where you are given 140 characters at a time to comment on anything you want, called “Tweets”.
Some people use Twitter to follow and keep up with their friends. Others use Twitter for intra-office communication. You have to “follow” someone to receive their updates, called “tweets” and only your followers will receive your “tweets.”
Savvy business owners communicate with their followers about what they are doing in their business and they ask for direct responses to questions.
Try out Twitter and follow people in your industry to get an idea of what it’s all about. Get a free account at Twitter.com. The be sure to update regularly about what you are doing in your business and include the link to something of interest on your web site (very good back-links) occasionally.
Be sure to follow me when you get your new account. Go to www.twitter.com/jayne_burch and click on “Follow.”
Tip: Get encourage your visitors to communicate with you on Twitter, put a “Follow Me on Twitter” link” on your web site.
Autoresponders, Newsletters and eMail Lists:
Ideally, you don’t want any visitor to leave without giving you at least their email so you can keep in touch. The best way we know of to do this is to have an opt-in form on your site where visitors can elect to receive mailings from you. It’s very possible to set up your site to automatically capture the contact information of your visitors and automatically keep in touch with them by email. Now you’ve got your web site really working for you! We call this Permission-Based Marketing. By opting in to your list, your new prospect is giving you permission – no, ASKING you – to tell them more about how you can help them.
My next article will cover Autoresponders and how to build your list online in more detail.
