An Autoresponder Email System is Ideal for Customer Relationship Building

While you are getting their email information you might also ask them “What is your most pressing question about ______ (the topic at hand or your field in general.)” This will help you in the next step of your marketing strategy: “Give it to them!”

What’s the Secret to Every Successful Small Business Web Site?

What’s the secret to a very successful small business web site? Have you heard, “Content is King?” What the saying implies is, the web site with the most quality information is more likely to be favored by Google. However, content alone is not the key. Dynamic and targeted content is the secret. Your static, brochure web site will not do what needs to be done. (static web sites are created with HTML code that just sits there on your web site.)

A brochure type web site isn’t bad as it goes. It does establish your brand and some credibility as a business. As a web business marketing strategy it doesn’t work so well. It’s just that it is unlikely to bring you new business or make sales for you because, without substantial time, money and effort your site will not appear in search results any time soon. The problem with a static, brochure style web site is that it is, well – static, (i.e. the content doesn’t change, just like a printed brochure.)

Here’s the secret: Google and all search engines are looking for content, fresh quality content. The more you change or add to your content, the more interested Google will be in your site. Your content needs to be dynamic and targeted with your niche keyword phrases.

Let me address the dynamic content first. By dynamic I mean that new content is being added on a regular basis. If your web site is being updated regularly with more information, Google will have a reason to visit your site. Unless you have a web developer on staff, the best way to have renewed content is to use blogging software to create you web site.

Before you let some hotshot web designer sell you a pretty web site that will stay buried in the millions of web sites that go online every day, consider a new web site creation approach.

Use a Blogging platform. Blogging platform? What’s that?

Why the Words You Use on Your Web Site Matter

If you have someone creating a web site for you, make sure that you provide them with the best keyword phrases for your niche. Unless, of course they will do the research for you, you will need to research those keywords yourself. The copy or text on your site must contain the words your market uses in the search.

Why? The biggest reason is that the search engines use the words on your site to know if your site is a good match for what the searcher is looking for, and the second reason is the your visitor will know that they have found the right place. If you don’t use the same language as your potential customers they will go away. They may click on your link and if they don’t see what they are looking for, they will hit the back button with lightening speed. You have about 5 seconds to grab a visitor’s attention!

If you don’t know what the best keyword phrases to use for your niche are right now, it’s time to do your research! Start by doing a quick and dirty survey of your current customers. Ask them if they were going to look for your type of business online, what they would type into Google. Then take those words and use one of the many keyword suggestion tools available (we’ll tell you more about keyword identification a little later on.)

Find the “right” keyword phrases is just the beginning to finding your market. “So, how do I find the right keyword phrases?” you might be asking.

There are many excellent tools to help you find the best keyword phrases in your niche. Google’s Keyword Suggestion Tool is free to use and can be found on the Google Adwords site. You will need to sign up for a free Google account to use it. Just go to Google.com/Adwords and look for it on the first page.

Your web site is just one of hundreds of millions of web pages on the internet so it’s unlikely that anyone will just happen to find you unless your site is built to attract the attention of search engines like Google or Yahoo. Putting up a static web site is a little like printing a brochure and just putting a stack of them on your shelf. It’s there and anyone can read it if they know where to look.
